Responsibilities of the Coach
- Teach all players on your team the rules of the game and how to play fairly.
- Be patient and generous with your players. Praise should be given as well as good.
- Players should be shown how to play soccer for fun.
- Players must be played equally, regardless of their ability to play.
- Teach your players respect for the game, teammates, other players and game officials.
- Encourage sportsmanship. Players should shake hands at the end of each game.
- Keep informed and up-to-date on rules and principles of soccer.
- Notify P.E.C.S.A. Executive immediately of any serious injury. Have player follow physician’s advice before returning to any soccer activity.
- Notify P.E.C.S.A. Executive of any major concern or problems with players, parents, or officials.
- Notify P.E.C.S.A. Executive if any player involved in the use of alcohol or illicit drugs during any P.E.C.S.A. activity.
- Address minor misconduct of players where deemed necessary.
- Verbal abuse and harassment of other coaches, players, parents, game officials, or P.E.C.S.A. executive will not be tolerated. This unacceptable behavior could result in a ban from all soccer related activity.
- The use of alcohol or illicit drugs will not be tolerated. This unacceptable behavior could result in a ban of any soccer related activity.
- Coaches must not be left alone with a player at any soccer activity unless written permission has been received from the child’s parent or guardian.
